THIS SITE IS STILL UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!
Greetings from
Australian Amateur Radio Station VK3JS
Who Am I?
My name is Ian Godsil -- an English name presumably from God's Hill in Salisbury, UK. There is , however, a large percentage of Irish through both of my parents.
I am a native of Melbourne city in Victoria, southern Australia. I have been married to Evelyn, often known as Eve, for 45 years.
By training I am a classical musician, specialising in church music of the Catholic and English churches. I was fortunate to do my Organ training in a Cathedral, as well as singing and assisting with taking services. My present parish is St. Joseph, Chelsea, some 30 kms (25 miles) south-east of Melbourne.
My Hobbies
1. English Language. I love my native language and have always been interested in its development through the centuries. The problem today is that there are changes to what I would call "good" English which I find hard to accept; but they are part of the young peoples' current world.
2. Digital Photography. I shall never be an expert, as i call myself and audio man rather than a visual man.
3. I have always been interested in electronics and about 30 years ago I qualified as an Amateur Radio Operator with the callsign VK3JS -- hence the name of this website.
I specialise in Morse Code (CW) and have "worked" probably 50 coutries of the world. I don't have an elaborate antenna system, but do have a strong interest in QRP -- low-power transmission and Contests.
I am manager of several VK (Australian) contests, details of which will be on the "Contests Page" here. Please make use of this as much as you like.
If you would like to contact me, my email address is ianvk3js@gmail.com
